Where We Are
The Seaview Tavern is located in Malin Head. We are situated overlooking the Wild Atlantic Ocean with views west towards the Malin Head Pier, Portmore Beach and the sheltered Sandport north to Inishtrahull Island and east towards the islands of Scotland. Malin Head is on the Inishowen Peninsula at the most northerly tip of the island of Ireland. It is the start (or end) or the Wild Atlantic Way and it is well know for it’s beautiful coastal scenery, unspoiled beauty and thriving birdlife.
Who We Are
The Seaview Tavern was known as Barney Grant’s before being purchased by William Matthew and Vera Doherty (Doc) in 1973. Sadly Willie died in August 2000 and Vera in July 2004.
The original thatched-roofed pub has seen many changes. Willie and Vera’s son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Caitriona, are presently improving the premises. They now boast a full A-La-Carte Restaurant menu, and the business gained the distinction of being both Dining pub and Restaurant for several years. Bar food and Lunch specials are served daily with the emphasis on local produce including fresh seafood from the local pier. Mussels, oysters, crab and salmon are just some of the succulent seafoods available throughout most of the year. Lobster is available but must be pre-ordered.
Michael and Caitriona spent 12 years in New York where Caitriona worked in a restaurant. It was from the experience gained there that The Seaview is able to boast of having probably the finest steaks and seafood in this part of the world. Some of the Tavern’s biggest praise of our food have come from the Head Manager of one of Jury’s Hotels and the Head chef of Johnny Fox’s.
